I would like to think that we escaped with no errors in the rulebook, but it seems that there were still a few areas where I was not as clear as I hoped or a change made at a later time was not caught throughout the book. Below are some corrections and clarifications. If you don't see your question answered here, check out our Yahoo Group: Hot Lead & Steel Sinews. The group is fairly active and I am always hanging around the back, whiskey in one hand, .45 on the table in front of me.

First a word about Hero Points
As stated in the rulebook, Hero Points can be used for changing your die roll (except for Hit Location), adding distance to your movement, etc. However, there are sometimes events that require something more than what the rules cover. During one of the playtests, a player wanted to jump through a skylight and shoot at someone on the way down. There would have been the standard penalties for moving and shooting and the model would have rolled for damage from the fall, but there was something more about this particular action that required a little something extra. I had the player spend a Hero Point in order to perform this "heroic" action. This worked out well and I use this as a standard when playing. But, no matter how I phrased this rule, it would end up being interpreted as, "I can do ANYTHING as long as I spend a Hero Point." This is not the intent of such a rule and rather than attempt to clarify what is and what is not an acceptable action, I left the rule unspoken. I mention it here for players who come across a situation they don't know how to handle but want to allow.

If I give my character +2 WS for the Pistol is this modifier applied to both of my pistols if I'm "ambidextrous," or do I have to pay +2 for each pistol? Same question for +2 Extra Ammo. Does this apply to both guns if I'm "ambidextrous"?
WS you have to buy for each pistol, ammo you only have to buy for each pistol if they are different WS (ie. each + to the WS is like upping the caliber of the pistol. You start with the .38 +1 to .45 +2 to a Lugar, etc.) However, it only counts as one reload (you just happen to be able to use it in either pistol.)

I don't see a description for "TH" listed. What is this?
The descriptions for the Weapon Table were inadvertantly left off. WS is Weapon Strength, TH is the To Hit Modifier (the number you add or subtract from your die roll based on range), and Range is the maximum distance a weapon can fire at each range band (If the Pistol has a range of 10" in the Short range, than any target up to and including 10" away gets that modifier for TH and the weapon's WS for that range.

The character types list CC under Arms. What is this?
This was an error introduced when we changed from the generic Close Combat (CC) to the more "pulp" Shiv (SH). The CC score is your SH score.

Under Jumping, ST is listed. What is that?
ST was STRENGTH which was changed to BR (BRAWN) in the final edition. Unfortunately, some references still remain.

Sharpshooter +2 (1 per +1) is an attribute available to a "G-Man". Does this mean that I *have* to give him +2 costing 2 points? Or can I just give him +1 costing 1 point?
You can go up in +1 increments. The +2 is just the maximum.

What is the "Quick Draw" attribute as listed for the "G-Man" character?
It should be Quick. Quick Draw is what it was originally called and some of the old names did make it into the book despite my efforts to remove them.

For the "Hunter" ability, the rules state "Models with this ability add +2 to their "chance".   Do you mean +2 to their "Dodge"?
If "Dodge" is what is called for. If Brains is called for instead, you would add to that.

The "shiv thrower" special ability says, "They prefer the silence of a blade and can throw it with great accuracy,   However, they are not great marksmen with a firearm". Does this deficiency with firearms manifest itself somewhere in the rules that I haven't spotted, or was that line just added for flavor?
This assumes that if you take Shiv thrower, you take it because your model does not have a high RC value (or else why use your CC score, it was more of a logical assumption than a rule.)

Mesmerize is a very interesting ability. May I assume that the character with this ability can make *himself* invisible to an enemy character? Can a character in base contact with an enemy character become invisible to that character?
Yes, you can make yourself invisible, you cannot do it while in base contact---however, if you look at some of the CC weapons, you will see that they can be used in close combat out to 1", so you could use it while in CC if you were not in base contact.

Is a character with a "short blade" assumed to have more than one? EG. If my character is equipped with a "short blade" and throws it, is he no longer equipped with a "short blade"?
Yes, you are assumed to have more than one.

Can ammo or weapons be taken from a dead or unconcious enemy character? How about a friendly character?
This is left to player discretion.

The Character Sheets show a DR of 3, but the character types in the book show a DR of 4, which is correct?
The DR of 4 is correct. The character sheets reflect an earlier version of the DR.
